Halloween

So I know I'm a little late in my posting, but here are some pictures of Halloween. The beginning of Halloween was less than picture perfect. I stayed home and passed out candy while David took the boys out. They started with Matthew walking (who, by the way, decided he didn't need a nap that day...) and Jacob in his little push car. Awhile later I could see them approaching with Jacob is David's arms and Matthew in the push car. Apparently Matthew didn't want to go up to several houses - even people who were very close to the sidewalk. I guess he just didn't think it was worth it?? Who knows....but half way through the evening we got in the car and went over to Foxcroft to trick or treat (Foxcroft is where we both grew up and where Barb and Russ still live). It's more fun over there since we know all the neighbors. Matthew did much better there. And Jacob quickly caught on to the idea of getting candy at each house (and then trying to eat several pieces before putting them in his basket!)

Physics Lesson

Jacob recently discovered that in addition to going down a slide himself, he can also send different items down. Here he is sending a ball down....over and over and over and over. And it's just as hilarious as the first time he did it!

Spot's Spot

We recently lost one of our beloved fish :( When Matthew came running to me saying, "Look, Mommy. Spot is swimming upside down!" in a very excited tone, I wasn't sure how to tell him. He took the news very well and really didn't get upset at all. So we made him a nice bed out of a kleenex box and buried him in the backyard.
The picture of Jacob shows that he managed to climb up on top of the swing set by himself while I was digging the hole! He's so proud of himself!
Here is a clip of Matthew saying goodbye to spot. It's the only time he got remotely sentimental, but by golly, he almost made me cry.

In this video he's saying, "I miss you, Spot." over and over.

Mud!

Last weekend we went to the pumpkin patch. Every year (and sometimes more than once in a year) we go to Iron's Fruit farm. When Matthew was a baby we tried to find a good pumpkin patch. Boy did we get luck to find Iron's Fruit Farm as the first place we tried. We love it. They are open year round and have various fruits you can pick throughout the year. We went a couple months ago and picked raspberries. So fun! We have also picked apples. This is the latest in the year we have ever gone, so the pumpkins were pretty picked over. But, apparently the main reason we went was the play in the mud, or so thought Matthew!! It was SO MUDDY. I think we may have brought home more pounds of mud than pounds of pumpkin!! Here are some pictures of our adventure. We took close to 100 pictures...thank goodness for digital!











I know it does look like it by that last picture,but we did have a good time :)

How to Choose!!

A couple weeks ago we had the privilige of having our dear friend, Sarah Sharp, take our family's pictures. When Matthew turned one, we tried to do something special for his pictures. So now it's Jacob's turn! For Matthew's 3-year and Jacob's one-year pictures we went out to Sharon Woods with Sarah and her husband Mike. They live in Chicago, but were in town for a wedding (a very special one, at that). We were so, so fortunate that they took them time to squeeze us into their very busy weekend. Sarah is amazingly talented. How will we ever choose what to buy!! Here is the slideshow she put together for us. We'd love input!! Which do you like?

Oh, Jacob

Sometimes I feel like Jacob has a little bit of Jekyl and Hyde in him...one minute he is this sweet, innocent, happy baby. And then the next, this:

Cute, huh?

This was about 10 minutes after David left for work. When David walked out the door, it was obvious that Jacob wanted to go outside (which he always loves to do). However it was early in the morning, cold, raining, and we were all in our pajamas. So he was told no. When told "no", Jacob usually reacts by either laughing, and then doing it anyway, or throwing a tantrum. We might have our work cut out for us as he gets older...

Jacob can perform! This is a little clip of his happy feet - he had been doing it for awhile before I taped it, so his timing wasn't as accurate as it was at the begining of the performance :)
